I'm really interested in the
amiibo functionality, mostly
because I preordered 3
amiibo of the new wave (2
of them aren't compatible with Sm4sh).
While many expected the gold Mario
amiibo just to be a recolor
of the Super Mario Collection Mario
amiibo, it does have a unique identifier
because it unlocks a gold Mario in Mario Party 10.
I'd be curious to know if
amiibo Party was always part
of the final product,
because it really appears to be a mode added at the last minute in an attempt to both satisfy long time fans (
because it uses the old gameplay) and as a way to sell more
amiibos.

Because of that, the
amiibo's price will reflect its larger size and go for $ 29.99, slightly more than the usual $ 12.99 price point for an average
amiibo.
The
amiibo cards have done rather well despite only being
of 2 different franchises, Animal Crossing and Mario Sports Superstars, though I think it is the Animal Crossing series that has sold a lot more cards, not
because there are a lot more to them in the series.

Either I completely missed the exclusive Amazon
amiibo (Corrin Player 2 and Link Skyward Sword), or something is up with Amazon,
because I've been good enough keeping on top
of amiibo to never miss one that I wanted, no matter how rare, yet I didn't see a single thing about those two, and this isn't the first time I've seen someone else say basically the same thing, which suggests that it wasn't just me.
Oh, but on your point about Cloud, I do think there's something to your train
of thought, but more on another level... the
Amiibo exists
because of Smash, but what reason did they have to put Cloud in Smash?
I know it's an dull question
because there are Kid Icarus fans who would get it, it was more
of a rant that it's not a popular character compared to the others from the
amiibo series.
Animal Crossing is a huge franchise, and just
because you don't know
of Isabelle or Mabel, or Lottie are, doesn't mean they don't deserve to be
Amiibo.

of the things that was really difficult was,
because this was a remake
of the game, we didn't have the opportunity to build the kind
of gameplay that would connect to using an
amiibo in this way.
So there ended the inclusion
of amiibo with Majora's Mask 3D and it wouldn't be the only 3DS title to say «No» to
amiibo because it would be the same with Tri Force Heroes.
Because of that, we thought that in the Splatoon world, the best
Amiibo to interact with the characters would be the Splatoon series
Amiibo.
And just to rant about
amiibo for a second, I'm really happy they didn't make you use any
of the really rare
amiibos,
because the only rare - ish one I have is Shulk (who I scanned btw.
It should also be mentioned that this collection features
amiibo support and if you're a fan
of this series than the Fire Emblem
amiibos are must have figures that does add a couple
of bonuses to the game and rightly so,
because you did pay extra for the privilege.
Maybe you just own that one yarn Yoshi
amiibo because it's frankly too adorable not to own at least one
of?
Each
of these
amiibo can only be used once per day so as to not unbalance the game too much — it'd be silly if you were effectively invincible
because you paid for a toy, wouldn't it?
I've got 3
Amiibo myself on a shelf next to a collection
of roughly twenty Marvel characters from Disney Infinity
because I've never had a problem finding any Infinity figure I wanted.
