The winds of change are blowing, however as Nokia opens up its new
Beta Labs program, bringing with it Android Oreo for the Nokia 8.
In a separate tweet, Mr. Sarvikas confirmed that the mid-range Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 will be the next in line to receive Android Oreo, adding that they will soon be added to the company's
Beta Labs program.
If you want to stop testing Android Oreo and go back to Android 7.x Nougat, you can do so by requesting a roll back over the air and if you do not wish to be part of the Nokia phones
beta labs program, you can unregister as well.
If the user is already a member of
the Beta Labs Program, they just have to log on the website with their ID and request for the Android 8.1 Oreo OTA update.
Back in October, we learned the company would be performing beta tests for upcoming Android updates via its new
Beta Labs Program, following the example set by Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and other OEMs.
Following this success, they introduced the first Nokia
Beta Labs program back in 2007 which basically just linked to other beta Nokia applications.
In a follow up Tweet, Mr. Sarvikas says that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 will be included in the Nokia
Beta Labs program for the Oreo update and that they were «just starting» with the Nokia 8.
