For much of the
history of space exploration on
Earth, the powerful rockets used to propel people and cargo to orbit or
beyond typically end up in a watery grave at the bottom of the ocean or eventually burning up in the atmosphere.
This was the first time in
history that any government signatory to the Outer Space Treaty exercised its rights and obligations to formally authorize and supervise a commercial entity to fly a mission
beyond Earth orbit.
The kingdom of God, whether thought of as that which gradually comes on
earth through a transformed society or as that which comes only in God's eternal kingdom

history by persistent sin and the grandeur of a vista that transcends it lend support to the view that the kingdom of God will fully come, not on
earth, but
beyond this world.
Whether the final consummation will come on
earth or only
beyond earthly
history, we do not know.
The divine vision for the world goes far
beyond what takes place in the course of our own species»
history or of events here on
earth.
She is the Mystical Body of Christ; at the same time a visible society instituted with hierarchical organs, and a spiritual community; the Church on
earth, the pilgrim People of God here below, and the Church filled with heavenly blessings; the germ and the first fruits of the Kingdom of God, through which the work and the sufferings of Redemption are continued throughout human

Whether this future is conceived as eternal life for the individual, or a new heaven and a new

Some believe that Jesus preached its coming on
earth and taught us to labor and pray for it; while others place it either at the end of earthly
history or totally
beyond it in a transcendent realm.

Earth» and almost every part of it was directed, in slightly breathless prose, to the possible discovery of a microbe here or there.
