The fish in question were
bichir fish that can breathe air and haul themselves over land when they have to,
so it's not as far - fetched as it sounds.

Not to give away any spoilers about the end of this movie, but I can't have been the only one disappointed that given this cast — which I will list alphabetically
so as to not give anything away — including Demian
Bichir, Billy Crudup, Carmen Ejogo, Danny McBride, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, and Katherine Waterston, we end up with the two end - game characters that we do.
