Since I am
working from a collection of Jesus» sayings, I have to abstain from the narrative part of his biography, the
stories of his
birth, healings, Holy Week, and Easter, for, as we will see, they are not in the Sayings Gospel Q at all, or at most, present in a very indirect way.

Yes, the fact that she got a vaginal
birth is a victory, but this

birth advocates still have a lot of
work ahead of them.

I asked her to tell me about her
work and what she has noticed about women's efforts to write their
birth stories.
``... As a
birth doula I often write up
stories for the couples I
work with.
On my homebirth website, I'm regularly contacted by people who posted their
birth stories maybe 7 or 8 years ago, and who now would like to anonymise their
stories a little because they do not want
work colleagues etc..
It's important how women go through it, if they are going to be very individual, some women like to talk about it or to write their
birth stories, and some women may need to consider counseling to help them
work through things.
It is much more disturbing that there can be so much variation within one hospital: Going to Ein Karem was a totally reasonable choice for a mother who wanted to be with her babies a lot — it
worked for you and for many other people (myself included; when my son was born there I had him by my side from his
birth to our discharge other than when I asked the nurses to watch him while I took a shower), but then you hear nightmare
stories like this one.

I hope that people start sharing their
birth stories more often so we can become more compassionate as a culture about the things women go through in trying to have children, as well as the things we go through trying to raise children and trying to
work well while maintaining a family.

I love our
birth story & I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to plan & prepare for a home
birth, even if it didn't
work out that way.
