Personal note: I got this kombucha kit and use it to
make a fermented
tea called Jun that uses green
tea and honey instead of
black tea and sugar.
My favourite
tea is golden milk,
made with creamy oat milk, turmeric, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon,
black pepper and a bit of honey for sweetness!
Schwartz is effusive about every company he mentions, from Big T NYC, a «couture
tea» company, to Golde, which
makes turmeric blended with powdered coconut milk and
black pepper.
It's good stuff - the
black pepper
makes it invigorating (and also helps the body absorb the turmeric), and the honey sets off the earthy - acridness of the spice enough that the
tea is still delicious.
Yet another variation involves adding a few squirts of honey and two to three thin slices of lime into
black tea as it steeps — the
tea is served hot, but has slightly more refreshing notes,
making it a pleasant summer drink.
Chai lattes that are
made with
black tea do have some caffeine, but this particular recipe is caffeine - free because you get to skip the
tea entirely.
Also
made the

Sometimes I
make this drink with my favorite hot
tea in place of the hot water (green
tea,
black tea, lemon ginger, cinnamon, etc.).
