While Chen doesn't state that there is already a company in mind to take on this task or that there is a device like the Bold 9900 already in the works, he
does reportedly state that he thinks he should «find someone» to make such a smartphone which may suggest that Chen plans to seek out a licensing partner to build a new
BlackBerry - style
phone similar to the Bold.

What download managers
do you use on your
BlackBerry phone?
For those who value the
BlackBerry way of getting things
done, the Curve 9380 out of the box with
BlackBerry 7 makes for a more feature rich
phone than any previous generation of
BlackBerry.
Considering we've only been using the smartphone for about a week, and most
BlackBerry users
do hold onto their
phones for 2 years and sometimes longer.
It doesn't come across as trying to be small, as would arguably be the design goal of a
phone like the
BlackBerry Pearl, but the Curve 9380 definitely is small.
What I like about this design is that it
does not have the same square screen as most
Blackberry phones, instead its long and rectangular, something that it has more in common with other higher end smartphones on the market.
Bloomburg also reported that three people familiar with RIM's plans didn't know the specific reasons for the decision, though one person said it may have been simpler and faster to use QNX because the
BlackBerry 6 includes legacy software code from older
BlackBerry phones.
The Rome
phone will have a keyboard that
does not slide out and people who had a
Blackberry Curve,
Blackberry Bold or the
Blackberry Q10 should feel right at home.
If you want to make good use of your 3 GB of monthly allowance like I
do, I highly recommended you get a
BlackBerry device with OS 6 or upgrade your
BlackBerry 5 to
BlackBerry OS 6 and then install UC Browser and Download Manager For
BlackBerry Phones.
But that doesn't change the fact that the PlayBook is on sale starting today, and anyone who doesn't have a
BlackBerry phone is stuck with a half - functioning tablet.
There's no charging contacts here for a charging dock, but don't fret - there is a
BlackBerry Charging Stand available - it just uses the microUSB instead, which should make for a rock solid base for this
phone.
What could be the cause of this new development remains a mystery to me and makes me wonder if RIM doesn't have faith in their
BlackBerry phones.
If you don't have a
BlackBerry phone or love opening up your tablet's potential with new apps, you're going to be really disappointed.
That's great for
BlackBerry owners, but I don't understand why RIM would alienate those of us who use other
phones.
For now this thing is only good if you happen to have a
BlackBerry phone and don't mind a poor app selection.
If you
do want to use email, you'll have to tether it to your
BlackBerry phone.
What the Kobo
does have is the ability to connect to
BlackBerry phones via Bluetooth.
For a while there it felt like Apple owned full touchscreen recognition the way
BlackBerry did keyboards - that every full touchscreen
phone with rounded corners was considered by the average consumer to be an iPhone.
For whatever reason, I don't like to use the
BlackBerry Destkop Manager device switcher thing - I prefer to treat a new
phone like a fresh start and use the Advanced Backup to move over the specific databases I want transfered (password keeper, address book, trusted certificates, etc.).
