I think I mainly prefer the
Blendtec because of the way the blade is made — I like how it pulls the ingredients down into the jar as you're
blending making for a very low maintenance experience.
It is helpful to have a good blender — I use a
Blendtec — but you can still make a good
blend by chunking up your greens and fruits well before
blending, and another option is to food process it — optionally
blending second.
TIP: If you do not have a high speed blender like a
Blendtec or Vitamix, you may not get the creamy smoothie shown in the picture, but that doesn't mean you can't make it pretty awesome — just
blend your greens and liquid first really really well, then add in your other ingredients.
