Board Effectiveness), I've been thinking a lot lately about how we educate tomorrow's business leaders.
Folks are looking
at ways to improve their efficiency and
effectiveness, whether it is shared services or
board mergers.
While the proponents of these NSF - sponsored math programs may be able to claim that the research shows no evidence that the programs are «ineffective,» the mathematics community, and parents who are protesting to the various school
boards across the United States, can now claim that the research can not be used to support claims of superior
effectiveness — or any
effectiveness at all.
At the same time, the cost -
effectiveness of the
board's approach, its focus on what teachers should know and be able to do rather than on the student outcomes or achievement associated with teaching, and its methods of assessing teacher quality, are features that have attracted strong criticism — issues we will return to later in this article.
Throughout her 40 - year career in education, she has been a classroom practitioner,
