«My
lab works on the neural bases of learning and memory,» says Pozzo - Miller, «so we decided to test if LM22A - 4 was able to improve spatial discrimination deficits by enhancing synaptic
plasticity in the hippocampus, the
brain region responsible for spatial learning and memory.»
The
lab focuses on clarifying the mechanisms of
brain plasticity, gene expression, and responses of cellular elements to different psychotropic drugs, and have identified several novel
brain sites and pathways that constitute attractive targets for new drug development.
