brain training programs work and if regular old action games can make you smarter — and what that really means.

A version of the speed
training program developed for this trial is now commercially available through the
brain fitness company Posit Science, but the researchers are
working on making other types of
training available as well.
While the theoretical principles guiding the use of the NBO and the accompanying
training program, include many of the conceptual themes that informed our
work with the NBAS, they are influenced by theoretical and clinical principles from the fields of infant mental health, child development,
brain development, behavioral pediatrics, systems theory, communication studies, nursing, early intervention and cultural studies, among its influences.

training programs Johns Hopkins compared are not the commercial products available sold to consumers, but tools scientists rely on to test the
brain's
working memory.
«This article makes big claims out of a single negative finding,» says Torkel Klingberg, a neuroscientist at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and founder of a company that makes computer
brain -
training programs to improve
working memory and other cognitive functions.
The
BRAIN Initiative K99 / R00 award is intended for individuals from diverse backgrounds (including nationally underrepresented groups) who are
working in research areas supported by the
BRAIN Initiative, who have no more than five years of postdoctoral research experience, and who require at least 12 months of mentored research
training and career development (K99 phase) before transitioning to the independent research (R00) phase of the
program.
«There are many apps, games and
programs that claim to have a boosting effect on our
brains, but research shows that they don't
work because they don't provide the challenge, flexibility and fluidity of a situation needed to
train our
