Breed Health Groups carry out a health survey of their individual breeds.
A major outcome of this meeting was the suggestion that
a breed health group, responsible to the three KC recognised breed clubs, should be formed.

Health Group shall be responsible for managing its own funds, independently of the parent
breed clubs.
In the event of a core member resigning from the
Health Group the vacant position should first be offered to the reserve member from the

Amendments to the
Health Group constitution recommended by members of the three
breed clubs at their 2010 round of AGMs have been incorporated into the constitution.

Health Group felt that the statement in relation to «feet» used in
Breed Watch documentation was too general and did not reflect the nature of the problem (Footpad Hyperkeratosis) in Bedlington terriers and, incidentally, in Irish terriers.
It was agreed that all communications received from the KC should be copied to members of the
Health Group and to the
breed club secretaries.

groups like the AVMA and the AKC that should be taking action for healthier pets never do — under pressure from cash - focused
breeding lobbies and, perhaps, the perverse assumption that
breed - related
health problems constitute an important veterinary revenue stream.

breed clubs, hypothyroidism was found to be the
health issue of greatest concern overall, as well as for each of the seven
