It is expected that Nissan will also introduce the X-tronic automatic transmission with the updated Micra in order to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ritz, Hyundai i10 and Honda
Brio.
Like the first generation model, the new Amaze will share its platform with
the Brio and the Mobilio.
Step inside and you are greeted by the same dashboard, which is present in
the Brio.
Our good friends at Team - BHP have uncovered the name of
the Brio sedan along with revealing the mileage details of the diesel engine.
The Brio sedan will be called Honda Amaze and is expected to literally amaze prospective buyers with its high fuel efficiency, space and aggressive pricing.
Honda is expected to launch the diesel powered
Brio next year.
Doors are longer than
the Brio.
Coming to the interiors, the DZire lacks some cabin space but the styling looks premium when compared to the Amaze which carries over the basic interior elements of
the Brio but is comparatively spacious with larger boot space and legroom.
It is likely to form the basis for the next - gen
Brio.
All models come with ambient meter rings which are blue in regular driving and turn green when you drive efficiently (looks cooler than the ECO text on
the Brio).
The base E variant loses the tachometer on
the Brio.
The Honda Amaze looks decently proportioned and does not seem too awkward looking like just a boot stuck (DZire) on
the Brio.
The City - like ORVMs also make an appearance on
the Brio.
The company is now planning to develop a diesel engine which would power both the City and the upcoming
Brio small car.
The reason for developing the Honda
Brio sedan under 4 - metres in length is to benefit from lower excise duties received by small cars in India.
Both the Amaze and
Brio were not as well equipped as their rivals but now the new changes come like a breath of fresh air.
While Maruti Suzuki has sold more than 5.3 lakh units of the DZire till date, Honda has received 6500 bookings already and waiting period has shot up to two months for
the Brio based sedan.
The Amaze gets double chrome slats on the front grille along with a different bumper to differentiate it from
the Brio.
Honda has launched
the Brio Amaze in Thailand in both manual and automatic versions powered by a 1.2 - litre petrol engine.
Honda Cars India has silently made updates to the Amaze compact sedan and
Brio hatchback adding and deleting features across different variants on both the models.
Honda will also offer the Amaze with a petrol engine which is the same one that does duty on
the Brio hatchback.
The updates are purely cosmetic and no changes have been made to the powerplants on the Honda Amaze and
Brio.
The 1.2 - litre i - VTEC petrol motor will be lifted from
the Brio and Jazz, to offer decent performance and good economy.
Honda's biggest product launch in India is undoubtedly going to be
the Brio Sedan, aka Amaze, on the 11th of April.
Honda launched the Amaze in India on 11th April 2013 and since then the carmaker has managed to sell an impressive 30,000 units of
the Brio based sedan.
The motor doesn't rev more than 4500 RPM in neutral and there is no speed limiter on the City like it's on
the Brio and Amaze and thus you can comfortably cruise at high speeds.
While it is rumoured that the next - gen
Brio might be based on the Small RS Concept, reports suggest that Honda might not offer it in India.
The Honda Amaze doesn't weigh much, it is only 26 kgs heavier than
the Brio hatchback.
The petrol engine is carried over from
the Brio and it is the familiar 1.2 - litre i - VTEC unit which also powers the Jazz (both old and new).
The differences from
the Brio apart from the boot, is that the wing mirrors get integrated indicators and there are a different set of alloy wheels.
This is the same engine which does duty on
the Brio hatchback and Jazz, producing 88 BHP and 109 Nm.
The front bumper is completely body coloured unlike the one with the black centre in
the Brio.
The Honda
Brio has managed around 70,000 units since its launch in 2011.
However, the current - gen
Brio RS sold in the Indonesian market boasts a 1.2 - litre, 4 - cylinder petrol engine that produces 88 BHP and a peak torque of 109 Nm.
The first diesel engine debuted with the made - for - India Amaze compact sedan based on
the Brio hatchback.
An MPV based on
the Brio and a compact SUV based on the Jazz are also in the pipeline.
The turning radius is just 4.5 metres (4.7 for the automatic), which tells you how city - focussed
the Brio actually is.
The Honda Amaze has a quirky looking dashboard that is shared with
the Brio and Mobilio.
Based on the peppy and perky
Brio hatchback, the eagerly - awaited entry level sedan from the celebrated Japanese automaker, Honda Amaze, is finally going to be launched in the month of April.
I think this is massively facelifted version of the current
BRIO.
Honda Mobilio sits on the same platform that forms base for
Brio hatchback and other Honda cars like Amaze and BR - V.
It looks well proportioned, the rear has been very well integrated than the other two, while the front has a chrome garnished grille visibly different from
the Brio.
The Jazz has 2 engine options - the 1.2 litre petrol though has been borrowed from
the Brio but has a slightly higher power output of 89bhp though is tuned for efficiency.
The BR - V, as it will be called, is based on the same platform as
the Brio hatchback, Amaze sedan and the Mobilio MPV which are sold in India.
Besides this efficient diesel engine that is speculated to return an impressive mileage of 24 - 25kmpl, Amaze will also offer a 1.2 - litre petrol mill, which it borrows from
the Brio.
IAB's digital illustrator has created a rendering of the production - spec second generation
Brio (codename: Honda 2UA) based on the Honda Small RS Concept.
Honda took an unconventional path unveiling the second generation sedan (Amaze) before the hatchback (
Brio).
The car is based on the Honda
Brio platform and as a result, features design cues from other cars that share the same platform like the Honda Mobilio MPV.
However, with a model change for
the Brio due in 2018 - 19, and unmissable similarities in certain sections of the exterior and general dimensions of the concept and current Brio, it is all but certain that the second gen Honda Brio is based on the concept.
Honda has not officially confirmed that the Small RS Concept will transform into the second generation
Brio.
