Although an over nose wrinkle is not explicitly encouraged, The Kennel Club (UK) French
Bulldog breed standard specifies that skin on the skull and forehead «should be supple enough to allow fine wrinkling» [1]; and the American Kennel Club breed standard describes «heavy wrinkles forming a soft roll over the extremely short nose» [39].

breeding the fad colors doesn't make them a «bad person» or a person that doesn't care for dogs, please DO NOT think I am putting down PERSONALLY another breeder, THAT IS NOT MY STYLE, I am simply stating they are not
breeding to the AKC
Standard, does nt mean I do nt think some look cool and that I wouldnt pet and love on one because its not a

Most often,
breeds prone to skin problems include Chinese Shar - Peis, American
Bulldogs, English
Bulldogs, Pit Bull Terriers, Spaniels,
Standard Poodles, Doberman Pinschers and Labrador Retrievers.
However, many breeders feel that the Continental
bulldog — and any future deviations from the original
breed standard — do not represent a true English
bulldog.
Be that as it may, tragically at whatever time a reproducer strays from the English
bulldog standard, the
breed is harmed to a certain degree.

General Description — This
breed standard is meant to provide breeders that register their dogs ABRA, competitors competing at ABRA shows and judges at ABRA sanctioned conformation shows with a written guide that describes the ideal American
Bulldog and is representative of the
breed as a whole, the guide should be used by the breeder and competitors when selecting show stock and by the judges when selecting dogs in an ABRA conformation show.
Its
breed standards for the Olde English Bulldogge differ in some big ways from the OEBKC and the Leavitt
Bulldog Association.
Nowadays the Alapaha is
bred all over the world strictly following
standards set by the Alapaha Blue - Blood
Bulldog Association ®.
Before writing about French
Bulldogs, one should read the
breed standard.
In 1989 The American
Bulldog Association was formed to oversee the
standards of
breeding.
The vet likely has no clue what a
Bulldog is supposed to look like - most vets know very little about correct
breed standard adherence.
This dog is of typical temperament and structure, and embodies the basic
standards of the French
Bulldog breed.
Of the 10
breeds covered here, seven join the
Bulldog standard in calling for large and / or open nostrils: the Brussels Griffon «large,» the ETS «large, wide open,» the Chin and Pekingese «wide» and «open» with the Peke
standard specifying «rather than pinched,» the Shih Tzu leaving no doubt by calling for «nostrils broad, wide and open,» and the Frenchie «nostrils broad.»
The French
Bulldog standard calls for a «well laid back» muzzle, which gives the same affect as the well laid back «nose» in the Griffon and the English Toy Spaniel, and the «well turned up» jaw of the Frenchie also contributes to a profile similar to the upface Toy
breeds.
The illustrated AKC
Bulldog standard, a wonderful document that brings every detail of the
breed into sharp focus, calls the undershot jaw «the
Bulldog's most unique physical characteristic,» and affirms that it is a result of form following function, as this characteristic allowed a «lockjaw» hold on the bull's flesh when the
breed fulfilled its original use of bullbaiting.

The English
bulldog is very different in outward appearance to
breeds such as the
Standard Poodle, which still resembles its Middle Eastern / SE Asian village dog and their European Landrace relatives in most aspects.
Therefore, it can be assumed that variations in the genomes of English
bulldogs and
Standard Poodles were not associated with inbreeding per se, but to strong positive selection pressures in various regions of the genome related to comparative
breed specific traits and to an associated loss of genetic diversity.
The level of inbreeding based on the proportion of SNPs that were homozygous in canine 170 K arrays was virtually identical in the two
breeds; 0.65 ± 0.03 in English
bulldogs and 0.63 ± 0.03 in
Standard Poodles.
We did not associate runs of homozygosity in English
bulldogs with characteristic phenotypic traits but are confident based on previous studies that the greater genomic variation in English
bulldogs compared to
Standard Poodles reflected stronger human - directed selection in the former
breed than in the latter.
This is fueled by purists that vigorously argue that any deviation from the original
standards is no longer a British (English)
bulldog [47], even though the
breed has continued to evolve in appearance over centuries and even the last few decades.
The
breed standard for the American
bulldog, Scott - type, was developed by crossing early Johnson lines with the American pit bull terrier.1
On average about twice the price of a
standard color high quality
bulldog puppy, because they are so hard to
breed & so rare!
In January 2009, after the BBC documentary Pedigree Dogs Exposed, the The Kennel Club introduced revised
breed standards for the British
Bulldog, along with 209 other
breeds, to address health concerns.
This is how the American Kennel Club's
breed standard defines a
bulldog:
Zachary Badanes - «Acute Blindness in an 8 year old Mixed
Breed Dog» Anna Sarfaty - «Traumatic Brain Injury in a 1 - year - old
Standard Poodle» Kathryn Mercer - «Tetralogy of Fallot in a 4 - month - old American
Bulldog» Michelle Forella - «Immune - mediated Hemolytic Anemia in an English Springer Spaniel» Graham Sager - Gellerman - Moderator
There are a few purebreds in which the under - bite is the
breed standard and these
breeds have no known issues throughout life due to this bite, these include boxers,
bulldogs and Shih - Tzus, and Lhasa Apsos.
For example
breed standards for the English
bulldog specify that the face should be very short, as should the distance between the tip of the nose and where it is set deep between the eyes.
This relatively high level of aggression in the French
Bulldog is somewhat surprising in light of the finding that owners of French
Bulldogs were influenced to buy their
breed by a perception that they were a «good companion
breed» and «good with children» [5], with their temperament described as a «deeply affectionate» in their UK
breed standard [1].
Loose joints (dysplastic) are part of the
breed standard & that odd but adorable anatomy
bulldogs are
bred for.
The pair are dedicated to the preservation and proliferation of the French
Bulldog breed through exhaustively stringent
breeding practices, careful observation of
breed standards, and the proliferation of strong, reputable pedigrees.
Our goal is to set the new
standard in French
Bulldog breeding.
