Keep in mind that some baby products, like
the Bumbo Baby Seat or a Baby Jogger jogging stroller, have specific age and / or weight requirements.
Like other gadgets that confine babies, including walkers, exercise saucers and bouncy seats,
the Bumbo Baby Seat is not popular among physical therapists.
That makes it important to continue to support your baby's head while she is in
the Bumbo Baby Seat or wait until she has good enough head control to sit in the seat without help.
Now your baby can enjoy a comfortable upright sitting position from around 4 months with
the Bumbo baby sitter.Simply pop the moulded supportive shape on the floor and sit your baby inside.

It is important at this age and you should let your
babies sit by using any supportive seat such as
Bumbo.
Parents who want to use a
Bumbo chair for their
baby should make sure to only select an updated model with the safety straps or tray, and should buckle
baby in each time.
However, since the recall and safety warnings, the manufacturer has updated the
Bumbo Seat with safety harnesses or trays that keep
baby in the seat.
If
baby doesn't like tummy time, the
Bumbo seat may be a more pleasant way to keep
baby from laying on his or her back too much.
I shudder most when
babies are placed in a sitting container (like
Bumbo seats) or standing container (like jumpers) before they are even able to support any of their own weight.
A recall of
Bumbo Seats was initiated in 2007 because some parents used the seats on high surfaces and their
babies were injured by falling from a counter or table.
Despite the earlier recall and the new warning labels, parents are still using the
Bumbo seat on high surfaces, so more
babies have been injured since the recall.
As long as your
baby is in a seated, upright position, you can feed her just about anywhere — in a
Bumbo, in a bouncer, on your lap... But we think you'll probably want to get an actual highchair; it's nice to have a dedicated seat for
baby, and having that big highchair tray makes a great food - catcher!
Bumbo Seats now have a harness strap or a tray to keep
baby in the seat.
Do not use
Bumbo Seats on high surfaces, ever, or leave your
baby unattended.
If you decide to buy a
Bumbo Seat, the only models you should consider are the ones with a safety harness or a tray that keeps
baby from falling out.

Even more troubling are CPSC reports showing that some
babies ended up with skull fractures after falling from a
Bumbo seat on the floor.
The
Bumbo Seat itself is not tipsy, whether
baby is in the seat or not, thanks to a wide, flat base.
If you're using a
Bumbo Seat for your
baby, you should be aware of this potential for injury.
Using the
Bumbo chair on top of another elevated surface, even if that surface isn't very tall, increases the angle, distance, and force of a fall for your
baby if he or she should tip the chair over or somehow fall out.
And then inside the home, you've got the swings, you've got infant seats, you've got
bumbo chairs, you've got jumpers, you've got standards — there are so many different types of devices that are made that prop
babies in positions that they themselves can not get to.
This is one of the major reasons I strongly discourage parents from using a
Bumbo or similar seat as a feeding seat for
baby.

The
Bumbo (a giant plastic moulded
baby seat, for those who haven't had the pleasure) is one of the
baby items everyone seems to buy because everyone seems to buy it, not because your child will ever sit in it.
Basically, it's placing
babies in a chair or some other device that places them in an upright seated position, like the molded
Bumbo seat.
She outgrew the
Bumbo because her chunky
baby legs became a little too big for it.
When I caught myself singing «
Baby got stuck in the bumbo» with no baby around I had to turn on the grown up mus

Don't spend too much money on «
baby holders» (bouncy seats, swings,
bumbo chairs, jumpers, activity mats etc.).
Bumbo says: «Upright positioning facilitates an improved visual field of the environment, improved respirations and breath control and assists a
baby who needs to be upright after feeding due to reflux.»
And though many parents say their children look happy in the
Bumbo, Weck says
babies can be equally happy in many other positions.
As a parent, you may already be familiar with
Bumbo, the brand behind the much - loved molded foam seat that gives
babies the support they need to sit up and enjoy the world from an upright position.

With all the fancy
baby products to choose from, the
Bumbo floor seat looks pretty un-impressive.
Lots of parents like the convenience of feeding
baby in an easy - to - wipe, easy - to - move, low - risk
Bumbo chair.
Also, there's no comparison between high chairs and a
Bumbo chair for feeding
baby.
Yesterday we learned from a pediatric physical therapist that
Bumbo seats are a no - go because they can compromise
babies» safety and overall development.
If your
baby is still wobbly, here are some ideas for keeping your little one safe while allowing him to practice sitting (plus a little of my perspective on
Bumbo seats).
They strongly discouraged the use of
Bumbo chairs, walkers, and exersaucers due to the placement of the
baby's hips.

I do as much tummy time as possible but I do use the
bumbo when I need my hands free and it's not safe to wear
baby (i.e. cooking dinner) to avoid other
baby gear that puts pressure on the head.

She does have a
bumbo, but her legs are too chunky for it... I couldn't justify returning it because I figured I would use it for future
babies of their legs weren't as chunky.
There are different perspectives on how appropriate it is to place
babies in «containers» that prop them up or help them maintain positions they can not yet assume on their own (such as the
Bumbo you mentioned and others like the Summer Infant Superseat).
