business traveler with fixed plans, a roundtrip SFO - CPH

As I often suggest travelers take «positioning flights» around Europe (and the US) to make the most of any great
Business Class fares that come around or to make the most of award availability that appears somewhere that isn't your home airport, I thought I'd share my experience of doing just that at Zurich airport.
The months of July and August are low season months for
Business Class travel and,
as such, are often some of the best months to find excellent
Business Class fares to just about anywhere in the world (with the possible exception of Australia which always seems to be expensive).
Option (1) was a non-starter
as three
Business Class fares to LA were always going to cost quite a bit (even over the holiday period where you can snap up a bargain or two).
I'm hoping to try out the Singapore Airlines all - premium cabin Airbus A350 - 900ULR when it comes into service in 2018/2019 and,
as I'm unlikely to want to (or be in a position to) part with the amount of cash a
Business Class fare between Singapore and New York will cost (that's the route I'm hoping to book), KrisFlyer miles will be my best option for securing a seat.

I haven't noticed any
fares that leap out at me
as being great deals but if you're looking to book a
Business Class fare to Asia then it's worth having a look through the promotion just in case something works for you.
This would still be an improvement on the status quo
as long
as, after 1 July, all the
fare classes that could upgrade to
Business Class under the old rules can still do so.
As I was trying to figure out how to make the most of the current good Qatar Airways deals between Europe and Dubai I accidentally stumbled upon a truly amazing
Business Class fare from Lufthansa.
As an example, roundtrip non-stop
Business Class fares between San Francisco and London for May 2018 (on any airline) are currently pricing at over $ 3,500....
As things stand cash
fares aren't looking too tempting for
Business Class — $ 2,964 R / T from Helsinki and an eye - watering $ 6,500 R / T from JFK — I'll keep an eye open for a
fare sale and keep you posted.
It's also worth noting that Discounted
Business Class fares on LAN on earn EQD at 20 % of miles flown
as compared to 25 % on most the airlines I've looked at so far.

as well (in the $ 1,750 to $ 1,850) but none that appear to compete with this one.

Class fares with the idea of upgrading them to
Business Class won't work for someone who travels

Business Class deals aren't that impressive
as, if you double up the costs to get the price for a roundtrip, the final cost of the awards isn't too dissimilar to a lot of
Business Class cash
fares offered by airlines when the sales are on — and with cash
