in your list I can agree that all these players would improve us, but let's look at our
CB At the moment Kos, top player but is struggling with a inj which may or may not heal, at the moment he isn't match
fit so not up to his own high standard, so needs help or a defender of his quality so he can go and recover properly So then we have Mert, too slow and no longer good enough, I'm not sure if he's even good enough for 3 rd choice
CB, too slow, poor on the air for his size and not brave enough, he's lasted this long due to Kos he needs a Top class
CB just to allow him to play against average
teams Ok now Reid not top class we can all agree so we couldn't really play him with MERT as he isn't Kos quality so can't cover merits deficiencys He could be ok with Kos but Kos is struggling So is Reid what we need???? And finally Wenger if he has all 3
fit will still play Kos / Mert first choice Oh and God forbid we play MERT / Reid against the top
teams like Chels / city / utd / Southampton Chuckle chuckle
Wenger needs to buy world class
in January I don't mean Andre santos or Kim kallstrom a 20mill + cdm and
cb would do
fit the bill and some new fitness staff because ours have been on holiday for the past couple years every other
team seems to have there full starting 11 on the pitch at least once
in a season we are lucky if we get 7 of our starting 11 if we're lucky
I'd have focused more on Torres (which I did), the lack of
CB depth (I'd prefer to have two quality
CBs to back up a 3 back rather than just one with one of the starters being a converted CDM), the lack of players who
fit the outside mid role well
in this formation (which, hey, maybe that's part of what you were referring to), and the fact that when you play more attackers higher up the pitch, it often requires a
team to be able to implement a high pressuring defensive line (Dempsey and Bruin are not suited for that).
And
in some ways, that has happened,
in that defensively we seemed to be all at sea last season, until realising that the absence of the wise old head of Per Mert and the continuing frustrating injuries affecting Kozzer, AW decided to change to a three at the back, primarily until the injured
CBs returned to the roster the following season at which time he would review which formation
fitted the
team the best.
