Or, there's a
code (
CEL) telling the ECU that the sensor isn't reliable, so it just turns on the fans to be safe.
Perhaps an obvious question but after you've cleared the
CEL and fault
codes with your scan tool, how quickly do they return?
My
CEL is on and the
code reads P0420 on a 2003 Vibe.
On my Honda Civic DX 2000, the Check Engine Light (
CEL) has been on for a while, so I brought the car to AutoZone to have the OBD
code read, but I was told that no
code is stored in the computer.
In conjunction with this the
CEL will come on (I got the
code read and it's P0571).
This caused a vacuum leak and a
CEL for a lean
code.
I would say this means that IF the
CEL goes off due to bad pressure in the tank then you would have to take it to a shop, read the
code, etc., which would consume time and money.
But given the O2 signals shown above, it's not even clear that changing the cat will get rid of the
CEL and the
code.
Usually, when a
CEL occurs, I'll clear the
codes and see if they come back.
Long term fuel trims are within 5 % on both banks and there are no current or stored
CEL / OBD
codes.
I took it to AutoZone to get the
code for the
CEL and got a cylinder misfire on two of my cylinders.
My 80,000 mile 2.0 TFSI Turbo Audi has lost a lot of performance but produces no check - engine - light (
CEL) or
codes.
watch out for pending
codes, I had a stall that eventually registered as a
CEL once it unfolded a few times.
Possibly unrelated:
CEL light went on, and back off - transmission malfunction
codes were thrown, noting shift solenoid B (gears 2/3).
Took it back to garage for smoke test, vac test etc. but still no
CEL or
codes.

It is not uncommon for vehicles to accommodate up to ± 20 % fuel trim (± 30 % ± 40 % on some vehicles) before giving up the ghost and throwing an error
code /
CEL.
IF you have a
CEL (check engine light) on you will want to pull the
codes via ODBII to see if you have some system faults.
I also got a P0306 misfire
code and it was driving horrible with the
CEL flashing.
However, one night the
CEL finally it stayed on and added more
codes: P0100, P0101, & P0110.
We used the scanner to clear the
codes and
CEL light and then went on a brief test drive in which the issue did not recur and the gear shifts were routine.
It is back to freaking out at 4k...
CEL has never gone away, and I get a P2646 in both Pending and Stored
codes... My gas mileage is absolutely horrible too.
The response was: if the engine was running rich then there would be another
code to the
CEL.
Arrived very promptly on time, fixed what I'd originally requested him to do lickity split, and also took the time to check some
codes my
CEL was throwing that were pointing to a deeper cause of the problem I originally experienced (and self - diagnosed) and was able to quote and suggest me a route on a possible fix for what it could be.
For example, the
Code you are inquiring about, namely, P0126 could set the Check Engine Light (
CEL) simply because the coolant level in your car is too low.
Maybe they're right, and who are we to argue with the guys behind the actual
code and artistic direction of the game; maybe it is not technically
cel - shading.
