The McGill Guide has been adopted as a standard by many
Canadian law journals, primarily and significantly the student - edited law reviews.
It is a disappointment to me that the relatively small number of
Canadian law journals, particularly those emanating from law schools, still cling to the pay - to - view approach, ensuring, in effect, that there is no prospect of their gaining any audience beyond the profession.

Blogging on legal decisions is of value to students, academics and the legal community, as case comments are no longer very popular in
Canadian law journals.
For the last few months, I have been tracking new issues of
Canadian law journals for Bora Laskin Law Library's Recent Law Journals Tables of Contents service (July issue here).
Fortunately my research leave project required me to collect and keep track of the table of contents of every new
Canadian law journal issue, so it seemed natural that we re-purpose all this information and in a small way try to fill CJLC's void — at least for Canadian journals.
Unfortunately, the Canadian Bar Review is not on HeinOnline, but since it started in 1923, and since, as many would argue, it is one of the better quality sources of
Canadian law journal articles, it should not be over-looked for pre mid-1980's content (e.g., Paul Martin, «The Declaratory Judgment» (1953) 31 Can.
