I have said before yesterdays game that we need a top class forward and dm to challenge having watched yesterdays diabolical performance i feel we need to ad a out and out winger to the team playing ozil or carzola out left is not working pedro would have been a fantastic signing but looks like he is going to man u. I thought coq passing yesterday was terrible we need someone who can do both jobs sit in front of back 4 but when in possession have the quality to make things happen coq lacks the 2nd part by a long way.
I mean look at carzola, he says outright without hiding that we need a striker... about finishing strongly, we did that last season and the season after and the other after after a first leg screw - up... maybe ramsey loves his friends in the dressing room but saying that we need a few quality wouldn't have hurt anyone... we weren't able to beat the chelsea that hez talking about at home even with a full squad so i don't get his reference plus other teams are strengthening strongly and will only get better... man utd with a mediocre team played us like we were some kids FH at OT and we had no injuries... IF WE DO NT SIGN STRIKER we are doomed cz it» l be harder to beat even the small teams
I do believe liverpool can't win @ d Emirates buh am kinda scared cos of the FA cup, if we beat them and meet in the FA cup again, they will want to prove a point especially if they don't make Top 4, and I want to us retain the FA cup, cos I want d likes of GAbriel, debuchy, coquelin, ozil, carzola, chambers, to feel happy that they av made the right decision joining us infact I want the whole team to develop a champions mentality.I want my manager to be the most successful manager in FA cup history and lastly I want to be able to boast among oppostionfans that «Arsenal have won 3trophies in two seasons» (FA, com.shield.........?)

it just means the individual is good not the team, i believe the term is «polishing a turd» kinda like Stoke are doing by adding shaqiri, Pedro has abilities that would make the team better, he is an accomplished winger, a decent goal scorer and he can assist, i do nt expect him to carry the team but when he plays in tandem with Giroud and Sanchez and Carzola hopefully it would prove fruitful.
Nwakali is a forward or wing player, nothing like kante and Ramsey is a squad player for me not first team quality, if Carzola is fit, him and xhaka would be a mouth watering fit but with Arsenals Injurie luck this seems inlikely but i wounder if the five at the back would work if we play a stubborn team that defends, i hope Arsene would change the formation in such games back to 4 -2-3-1 but this would require a proper rght wing which we havent had in years, we've had OX, Campell, Wallcot, Iwobi, Ramsey, Welbeck and Ozil play in that position and non of them have made it their own like sanchez has with the left wing
These are names that should be in the first team line - up now replacing Carzola, Arteta, Mertesacker, Flamini, and the likes who are not as effective as they used to be.
We have new players coming in Sanchez, Welbeck, Debuchy, Chambers — all need time to gel with the team and the manager are trying to find the formation and tactics that can get the best out of his star players Ozil, Sanchez, Ramsey, Carzola and at the same time try to bring up the likes of Wilshere and Chamberlain.
We lost the balance of the team I could clearly see it there was something un clear to our players on the field the left wing was weak wellbeck lost position far too many times belerin was not up to scratch maybe it should have been gabrial instead of matasacker carzola tried to spray ball into left flank that went begging but also the midfield was weak perhaps there should have been 5 but the number wasn't the real problem we didn't do what the tots did to us all in all hope this was a good dress rehearsal for the champion league but the defence has to be more accurate to protect the goal keeper keans goals are not acceptable
Carzola offers great passing from central midfield, his two good feet, means he can surge forward in any direction, and also offers a genuine goal threat — as result he's hard to defend, and offers lots for the team - Additionally without the ball, he will track back, support the team, and even make the odd tackle — this is the vital difference between him and Ozil -
Yawn... If he is going to be our midfield general this season we can already kiss the title chase good bye... Funny how people on this site dismiss mharez as a one season wonder but laud this guy as the future based on a decent 6 months out of 60 in the first team... Any halfway decent manager would have found a quality replacement for carzola by now as it's clear his time is more or less up and invested big...
Whether draxler or not arsenal is still a weaker team, is it something bad if we have both draxler and Sanchez in the same team fighting for places, just imagine van persie, Sanchez, ozil, carzola are in the same team, with likes of inform konsieny, mustafi, and konlansinic, and good holding midfider,... our problem with this 343 information or 3421 information apart from Wenger playing players out of position we don't have a strong holdmidfider that retrieve the ball back when we lost possession... Kant's is perfect example of that, look at the job he does at Chelsea is amazing...... without a good holding midfielder our defenders are vulnerable
but I think holding or chambers will play and it's not likely ozil will start in which case carzola in middle and ox on wing and xhaka will start for sure but the very fact that either team would be kicking off season tells me that wenger still doesn't know what he is doing to win this thing
I wholeheartedly agree that one of Carzola, Ozil or even Ramsey (when in bad form) has to be sacrificed for Arsenal to achieve that necessary team balance.
If he plays with Bellerin from the right am sure we'll see more from him, and i wont just support playing Ramsey in every match, lets start rotating please, give Campbell some games too against lower teams and rest Ramsey sometimes (any time he gets injured we always feel it even tho he's been wasteful with balls) or Rest Carzola and play Ramsey in CM so Campbell can play the RW..
Cazorla was really good, but i felt Wenger should have brought in Wilshere for Ozil or Carzola, he needed that player who can burst through that Berlin Wall and the moment was calling out for Wilshere its a huge shame Wenger did see it But in fairness he believed the team would do it an its a shame they just fell short
I hope this is a joke... Wilshere is not a first team player and no where valued at those wages rates (well, English players are overpriced and overvalued anyway and none of them could even pretend playing in a top European outfit) and I would wonder what players like Carzola, Coquelin and more think when they are obviously more IMPORTANT than Wilshere.
Unlike Walcot, Giroud likes to stick at the central position holding the ball, this provide no chance for Sanchez to roam about on the front three and with him Carzola looks non-mobile, he tends to pay short passes in and out while Ozil more often tend to drift to the wings looking for putting in crosses and the overall game is slow which inturn provides room to the opposing teams to attack causing our defense vulnerable and commit mistakes.
ridiculous... whatever he is in midfield he was a complete waste of a player on the wing... lacked pace and touch and did nt go past players... if wenger does nt invest in another world class attacker this summer we will always be nearly theres... giroud has improved undoubtedly but against top class defenders he is just another journeyman from ligue un... bellerin certainly our top choice fullback now hazard did nt get a look in... coquelin carzola ozil sanchez working together... so if we invest properly in summer we can overhaul this lot who are no great team for sure..
This is a side that brings the two best playmakers in the team Carzola and Ozil to share the CAM role.
This team is surely not convincing that much, Ps I thought carzola, Walcott and monreal were suppose to be in this game?
players like Ozil always present the fans with a bit of a conundrum, especially when times are tough... if you look around the sporting world every once in awhile there emerges a player with incredible skill, like Ozil, Matt Sundin or even Jay Cutler, who have a different way about themselves... their movement seemed almost too lackadaisical, so much so that it seemed to suggest indifference or even disinterest on the part of the player... their posture always appears somewhat mopey and they generally have an unflattering «sour puss» expression on their face... for some their above average skills are enough to keep them squarely in the mix, as their respective teams try desperately to find a way to get the best out of them visa vie player acquisitions or the reworking of tactics... when things go according to planned the fans usually find a way to accept their unique disposition, whereas when things go awry they become easy targets for fans and pundits alike... in the case of Ozil and Sundin, their successes on the international stage and / or with their former teams led many to conclude that if we surrounded such talented individuals with players that have those skills that would most likely bring the best of these players success would surely follow... unfortunately both the Maple Leafs and our club chose to adopt half - measures, as each were being run by corporations who valued profitability over providing the best possible product on the field... for them, they cared more about shirt sales and season tickets than doing whatever was necessary... this isn't, by any stretch, an attempt to absolve Ozil of any responsibility for his failures on the pitch... there is no doubt oftentimes his efforts were underwhelming, to say the least, but this club has been inept when it comes to providing this prolific passer with the kind of players necessary for him to flourish... with our poor man's version of Benzema up front, the headless chickens in Walcott, the younger Ox and Welbeck occupying wide positions far too often and the fact that Carzola, who provided Ozil with great service and more freedom to roam, was never truly replaced, the only real skilled outlet on the pitch was Sanchez... remember to be considered a world - class set - up man goals need to be scored and for much of his time here he has been surrounded by some incredibly inept finishers... in the end, I'm not sure how long he will be in North London, recent sentiments and his present contract situation seem to suggest that he will depart at season's end, but how tragic would it be if once again we didn't put our best foot forward and failed to make those moves that could have brought championship football back to our once beloved club... so when you think about this uniquely skilled player don't be so quick to shift all the blame on his shoulders because he will not be the first or the last highly skilled player to find disappointment at the Emirates if we don't rid the club of those individuals that are truly to blame for our current woes
the game there has changed before the match i was thinking about a formation but flamini was not available in my formation carzola was not in for the simple reason he put a lot work in the last match i would have picked wallcott rosciky and gabrial having said that when the player sheet came out my first thought was yup the team is balanced the bench constituted walcott and chambarelain (speed) so in essence the plan was ok but it just was a disaster The 22 million dollar question who would one pick to secure a win in Monaco and advance into the quarter finals of the champion league
and just so you know, the only way wenger gon try accommodate ozil and carzola in the same team is either ozil plays on the wings or santi goes to the bench (not ideal, considering his recent form)... and how come there's no proper striker in the Line - up?
I wouldn't want to let a player like Santi Carzola go if you intend on pushing for honors, Cashing in on players like him means we haven't learnt a single thing from the past, Are we Argos or a Football Team?
Time for some brutal honesty... this team, as it stands, is in no better position to compete next season than they were 12 months ago, minus the fact that some fans have been easily snowed by the acquisition of Lacazette, the free transfer LB and the release of Sanogo... if you look at the facts carefully you will see a team that still has far more questions than answers... to better show what I mean by this statement I will briefly discuss the current state of affairs on a position - by - position basis... in goal we have 4 potential candidates, but in reality we have only 1 option with any real future and somehow he's the only one we have actively tried to get rid of for years because he and his father were a little too involved on social media and he got caught smoking (funny how people still defend Wiltshire under the same and far worse circumstances)... you would think we would want to keep any goaltender that Juventus had interest in, as they seem to have a pretty good history when it comes to that position... as far as the defenders on our current roster there are only a few individuals whom have the skill and / or youth worthy of our time and / or investment, as such we should get rid of anyone who doesn't meet those simple requirements, which means we should get rid of DeBouchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Mertz and loan out Chambers to see if last seasons foray with Middlesborough was an anomaly or a prediction of things to come... some fans have lamented wildly about the return of Mertz to the starting lineup due to his FA Cup performance but these sort of pie in the sky meanderings are indicative of what's wrong with this club and it's wishy - washy fan - base... in addition to these moves the club should aggressively pursue the acquisition of dominant and mobile CB to stabilize an all too fragile defensive group that has self - destructed on numerous occasions over the past 5 seasons... moving forward and building on our need to re-establish our once dominant presence throughout the middle of the park we need to target a CDM then do whatever it takes to get that player into the fold without any of the usual nickel and diming we have become famous for (this kind of ruthless haggling has cost us numerous special players and certainly can't help make the player in question feel good about the way their future potential employer feels about them)... in order for us to become dominant again we need to be strong up the middle again from Goalkeeper to CB to DM to ACM to striker, like we did in our most glorious years before and during Wenger's reign... with this in mind, if we want Ozil to be that dominant attacking midfielder we can't keep leaving him exposed to constant ridicule about his lack of defensive prowess and provide him with the proper players in the final third... he was never a good defensive player in Real or with the German National squad and they certainly didn't suffer as a result of his presence on the pitch... as for the rest of the midfield the blame falls squarely in the hands of Wenger and Gazidis, the fact that Ramsey, Ox, Sanchez and even Ozil were allowed to regularly start when none of the aforementioned had more than a year left under contract is criminal for a club of this size and financial might... the fact that we could find money for Walcott and Xhaka, who weren't even guaranteed starters, means that our whole business model needs a complete overhaul... for me it's time to get rid of some serious deadweight, even if it means selling them below what you believe their market value is just to simply right this ship and change the stagnant culture that currently exists... this means saying goodbye to Wiltshire, Elneny, Carzola, Walcott and Ramsey... everyone, minus Elneny, have spent just as much time on the training table as on the field of play, which would be manageable if they weren't so inconsistent from a performance standpoint (excluding Carzola, who is like the recent version of Rosicky — too bad, both will be deeply missed)... in their places we need to bring in some proven performers with no history of injuries... up front, although I do like the possibilities that a player like Lacazette presents, the fact that we had to wait so many years to acquire some true quality at the striker position falls once again squarely at the feet of Wenger... this issue highlights the ultimate scam being perpetrated by this club since the arrival of Kroenke: pretend your a small market club when it comes to making purchases but milk your fans like a big market club when it comes to ticket prices and merchandising... I believe the reason why Wenger hasn't pursued someone of Henry's quality, minus a fairly inexpensive RVP, was that he knew that they would demand players of a similar ilk to be brought on board and that wasn't possible when the business model was that of a «selling» club... does it really make sense that we could only make a cheeky bid for Suarez, or that we couldn't get Higuain over the line when he was being offered up for half the price he eventually went to Juve for, or that we've only paid any interest to strikers who were clearly not going to press their current teams to let them go to Arsenal like Benzema or Cavani... just part of the facade that finally came crashing down when Sanchez finally called their bluff... the fact remains that no one wants to win more than Sanchez, including Wenger, and although I don't agree with everything that he has done off the field, I would much rather have Alexis front and center than a manager who has clearly bought into the Kroenke model in large part due to the fact that his enormous ego suggests that only he could accomplish great things without breaking the bank... unfortunately that isn't possible anymore as the game has changed quite dramatically in the last 15 years, which has left a largely complacent and complicit Wenger on the outside looking in... so don't blame those players who demanded more and were left wanting... don't blame those fans who have tried desperately to raise awareness for several years when cracks began to appear... place the blame at the feet of those who were well aware all along of the potential pitfalls of just such a plan but continued to follow it even when it was no longer a financial necessity, like it ever really was...
How the f @@@ did Ramsey stay on the pitch for 90 mins... Clueless from start to finish... Should pay madrid 25m to take him... Without carzola there is no creativity in midfield and no quick turnaround... We are as always at least 2 quality players short of the top european teams... Ok for wenger's 4th place and last 16 strategy but awful for fans...
Difference with this team and the team we hard about 7 years ago is that we now have leaders in key positions and players others can look up to (Cech, Mert, Kos, Nacho, Coq, Carzola, Theo (10 yrs is no small feat), Arteta)
When you take a penalty you make sure its in sanchez really messed that one up I was screaming to take carzola and sanchez off and luckily carzola didn't get another yellow Iwobi recked my head but eventually he fixed it wollcott and Coquelin and Xhaka did very well but the whole team controlled the ball very well it was a well done job but should have been 3 goals up before half time very glad with the win I wanted a big win I eventually got it
Part of the reasons for our positive team display has been the team selection, especially in the Goalkeeping and Midfield areas where the Manager has made the bold move to replace Szczesny with Ospina and resisting the temptation to field fit again Ozil and keep faith with the Magician (Carzola).
Hopeful prediction... More likely an anonymous performance in an anonymous team followed by an 8 million bid from stoke rejected by wenger as insulting to his own ego and the welsh people... Worry is that ozil and possibly carzola will get sense of déjà vu and look for quick exit after the euros
On another note, going by what I saw yesterday, we need extra prayers for Coq, Bellarine, Sanchez, OG, Carzola and Monereal (hell I can add the whole team) to stay healthy because our so called back up's either suck or they are completely out of form and are not reliable to compete at the top level (Campbell, Debuchy, Flamini, Gibbs, I'll throw in Mert for yesterday's showing).
There's supposed to be rotaion on this team long while back, can't just throw anyone in there when the going gets hot and expect a miracle. Why wasn't carzola been allowed to operate behind the striker like he did last season, at least in some games?
With Arsenal welcoming back Santi Carzola to accompany Ozil into a team high on confidence and in great form, it is difficult to see anything other than a convincing Arsenal win.
