Of course, it's hard to be too critical on the graphical limitations in the games of yesteryear, but the fact that
the character models still look relatively impressive while the backgrounds look so ugly does make you wish Rare had just used one cohesive visual look.
The pre-rendered backgrounds are vibrant, and really add to the atmosphere,
the character models still hold up relatively well, and the enemies look ok.
The game retains that same visual style, with the pseudo-grainy screen that harkens back to the sci - fi movies of the 70s and 80s, and
the character models still look fantastic.
While
the character models still leave a lot to be desired in this day and age, the gameplay is adequately smooth, and the framerate is noticeably more stable, however expect to see some slowdown in sections where either enemies are spawning, new portions of the level are opening, or when it transitions to cutscene material.
The character models still suck but I guess they're sticking with them.

While it's great to see that Big Ant Studios manages to recreate the arenas from the Australian Open grand slam tournament, it's the

Graphics wise, Skyward Sword finds itself between Twylight Princess and Windwaker; a colourful, cartoony look that

still a shame this feature didn't make it over from the PC version.
Character models have a bunch of noticeable jagged edges on them, though they
still have a good bit of detail just like in RE5.
The whole thing is very aesthetically pleasing and while the game itself appears to predominantly use chibi - fied
character models, I'm sure that the environments will
still be a treat to look at, especially in full detail within the artbook.
Lastly, Naughty Dog is
still ahead of everyone else when it comes to
character models in game.
Visually, the details of the textures,
character models and lighting have been improved across the board, and even though it's
still not a particularly good looking game, the excellent animation work for the powerful weapon / class skills as well as the various imposing monsters shines through.
It
still lacks of visual effects and expensive 3D
character models.
The game
still shows its age with outdated textures, awkward robotic speaking and the occasional weird animations, but it looks good in 1080p, the
character model updates are nice, and the combat animations are as fluid as ever, so it isn't all bad.
Character models may not be the best we have seen but they are
still brilliant and in conjunction with the beautiful world that Guerilla Games have created, you really wish there was more substance to the gameplay so that you could really get immersed into the world.
But how exactly did the team at Boss Key construct a base for an assortment of items to not only fit a
still character model, as you dress them in your Prize Room, but to a
character that dives, aims, and dances its way to become the best around?
The
character models are slightly improved but could
still use some major work.
15 years later, it's
still not finished, and a group of amateur developers are
still cooking up textures,
models, and
characters, stretching out the country a little bit further.
The cel - shaded art style is truly timeless and while some
character models show some age the game as a whole
still looks beautiful in 2012.
However, the
character models themselves are
still as scary to look at as ever, with each
character looking like their head is about to explode while you're talking to them.
It would have been much better to have more cutscenes with in - game
models rather than static backgrounds and
character drawings, but the dialogue scenes are
still effective none - the-less.
