If you've ever wanted to learn about transitioning to a vegan
diet, this year's line - up features some serious movers and shakers in the healthy - eating movement, including PCRM's Dr. Neal Barnard and The
China Study author T. Colin Campbell.
When examining the epidemiological
studies of
China - it shows that people need less calcium than we think and we can get it through a plant based
diet.
I went vegan for ethical reasons and didn't care a lot about the health aspects of a vegan
diet, so even after reading The
China Study and watching Forks Over Knives I wasn't really convinced that I should give up oils.
I'm super stoked that the
China Study has inspired so many people to eat healthier, kinder, more nutritious
diets.

Back to the film... What I love about Forks Over Knives is, in addition to hearing from incredible doctors like Colin Campbell (author of The
China Study) and Caldwell Esselstyn, is that the film tells inspiring stories of real people, from all walks of life, who've embraced a plant - based
diet and have thus reversed chronic health conditions like heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

China study and feel that my father would benefit from listening to Colin Campbell and other experts like yourself in regards to his

diet but author T. Colin Campbell also admits it cuts a woman's hormone levels so low that it stunts growth, delays puberty, and leads to early menopause.
The problem was that the media «let both sides speak» in regards to the
China Study which has hundreds of references and then interviewed someone on the Paleo
diet which was little more than a story book.

As for Colin Campbell's
China Study, often cited as proof that plant - based
diets are healthier than those containing animal foods, the data on consumption and disease patterns collected by the Cornell University researchers in their massive dietary survey do not support such claims.
So, I really believe in Dr Dean Ornish's scientific proven
studies on reversing atherosclerosis heart disease, even prostate cancer, and yes, I believe in The
China Study by T. Collin Campbell, even when he says we can turn on and turn off cancer growth just by adding animal protein to the
diet of his subjets, the same way as I turn on and turn off my own high blood pressure just by adding or not current «animal proteins and processed foods to my
diet, as I sometimes do as just to make sure the
diet really Works.
The
China Study is frequently cited when criticizing the Paleo
Diet — focusing on a vegetarian
diet and consuming rice is healthier than the Paleo
Diet.

The
China Study suggests a low fat, low protein whole food plant based
diet is optimum, but then I see plant based doctors promoting the benefits of beans and nuts and seeds.
I'm still making my way through the book The
China Study and the more I read it, the more I am affirmed by this
diet.

China Study — it's very convincing even though it's complete BS — and I changed my

diet» for the first five weeks of the experiment, without noting that this «standard»
diet happens to be 20 % casein.

Perhaps people would have to make changes in their
diets that mimic the
China Study and Okinawa levels of meat consumption if the government would simply STOP intervening.

studies credit a traditional

diet is healthier» message really is.
I love The
China Study because it challenges Americans to change their
diet.
Why are we told that a plant - based
diet «is always associated with lower mortality of... coronary heart disease» in the
China Study data, when it's the folks eating the most animal foods who get less heart disease?
These are exciting things to hear for anyone trying to justify a plant - only
diet, and it's for this reason I believe «The
China Study» has not received as much critical analysis as it deserves, especially from some of the great thinkers in the vegetarian world.
Even conceding every anti-
China Study argument, the
China Study shows at minimum that a plant - based
diet can be very healthy.
Both in the movie and in his book «The
China Study,» Campbell makes an unjustified leap from «isolated casein in rat
studies» to «any animal protein in a real - world human
diet.
On their native
diet they are free of disease and exceptionally hardy.17 An extensive
study of
diet and disease patterns in
China found that the region in which the populace consumes large amounts of whole milk had half the rate of heart disease as several districts in which only small amounts of animal products are consumed.18 Several Mediterranean societies have low rates of heart disease even though fat — including highly saturated fat from lamb, sausage and goat cheese — comprises up to 70 % of their caloric intake.
