Christians did horrible things.
Instead, I've seen mostly «everybody knows» examples, like that everybody knows that the Crusades consisted of Christians murdering and committing horrible deeds; since everybody knows this it doesn't require any detail to explain why this is the case — except that it's done so frequently that many people will cite the Crusades as an example of
Christians doing horrible things without actually knowing any historically accurate details of what horrible things they were doing.

There are times when
Christians have
done horrible things in the name of Christ (Crusades), but it is their own Bible that calls them out for
doing such
things.
Just because a
Christian person
does a
horrible thing doesn't make then not -
Christian.
But when faced with the obvious proof that believers have
done some very
horrible things in the lifetime of their religion, that proof is dismissed as not the work of «true»
Christians.
That was why many blacks asked: How could whites be
Christian and yet
do such
horrible things to black people?

Christians wouldn't be marching in the streets, attacking embassies, murdering the artist who drew the picture.
And I certainly agree that some
horrible things were
done during the Crusades, but many individual
horrible things happening during a series of wars
does not mean that all of those wars were simply
Christians doing what
Christians ought not.
In any case, when an atheist blames god for all the
horrible things in the world, it's to bolster an argument that the
christian god (or any other man made god for that matter)
does not exist or else he wouldn't have allowed these
things to happen.
Things like televangelism, angry political picketing, boycotts,
horrible Christian movies, copycat
Christian music, anti-intellectualism, hyper - politicized discourse, «Left Behind» hysteria about the «end times,» and «hell houses» (don't ask).
Conversly you will know false
Christians by the
horrible things they
do and condone.
while there is nothing wrong with a
Christian owning / running / operating our own business but at none of these places
do you find that they are pushing their beliefs on other employees, requiring them to believe the same
thing, etc. it's apparent with walmart — a
horrible place to shop, employees don't care whether you need help or not & will even run over you while walking & texting on the job or standing around cussing & carrying on in their personal conversations instead of assisting customers.
The proof is in the many
horrible things christians have
done in the name of their god.
