The publication and exhibition in 2003 that marked the
college's anniversary became the inaugural exhibition for the
college's art gallery [cage] in it's newly
built library, while the book has become a showcase publication for the
college.
Built in two phases, Phase One (2014 - 15) focused on the renovation and conversion of the museum's original 56 Broadway site into a new three - zoned environment featuring a public entry and retail sales area with an adjoining Black Mountain
College (BMC) orientation center, an expanded and updated BMC exhibition gallery, and a new BMC
library, research and study center.
Organized by e-flux, the
library visited the Lower East Side in New York; the Kunstverein of Frankfurt; MuhKA in Antwerp; Institut national d'histoire de l'art (INHA), in Paris; the United Nations Plaza
building in Berlin; John Moore's University in Liverpool; Stills Photo Centre in Edinburgh; and Amherst
College, in Massachusetts.
