Climate impacts on the Community Climate System Model (CCSM 3.0) of making the surface hydrology of
the Community Land Model (CLM 3.0) consistent with the Simple Biosphere (SiB 2.0).
I wanted to have the land be somewhat realistic, so instead of using a completely idealized land surface I wanted to use
the community land model (CLM) component of CESM, which calculates surface sensible and latent heat fluxes based on soil and vegetation types.
Working with Tom Chase, a colleague at the institute, the researchers were comparing climate simulations from
the Community Land Model — part of a select group of global models used in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's 2007 climate change report — against observations.
