Despite the controversy, 45 states have officially adopted CCSS, pledging themselves to a high, common definition of expected student
competencies, to be assessed by common
tests starting in 2015.
First administered to assess the quality of education systems worldwide, PISA, or the Program for International Student Assessment, covers math and science, and recently
started testing collaboration, critical thinking, and global
competency skills.
