Consider, as an example, the controversies surrounding the recent work of Catharine MacKinnon and Andrea Dworkin on the ethical and jurisprudential implications of pornography: their
conclusion is that pornography, by its very existence, makes the
exercise of full citizenship an impossibility for women, and that therefore making such literature illegal is not only
consistent with, but is properly implied by, the Constitution of the United States.
