Here are several
ideas for reusing different
containers from around the
house.
Roth came up with the brilliant
idea of devising rings with exchangeable parts — a variety of brightly - colored corkscrew - like attachments to the ring's main body — which Roth then
housed in
containers such as old pipes or wooden boxes.
More change is coming to the lot soon, of course — we recently announced our plans for a communal studio shed to replace our rented shipping
container, and we're currently exploring options to put the space between the Matchbox and the Pera
House to good, creative use (suggestions welcome — or if you think you could personally use the space, get in touch with us with your
ideas).
Even if reusing shipping
containers themselves can be problematic, the underlying
idea of creating
housing that's modular and easy to transport is nevertheless a relevant one that could potentially remake how we build and view our homes.
The Reaction
Housing System adds a new
idea to the mix: they developed a tapered design that stacks up like a pile of coffee cups or take - out
containers, delivering a finished building envelope without shipping a lot of air.
