as a double pivot and it looks like Aaron Ramsey will be our number 10, with the Ox and Joel Campbell on either side of Olivier Giroud in attack.

as Elneny and
Coquelin not versatile
midfielders who have limited skills.
We might have wanted Arsene Wenger to give Francis
Coquelin more of a chance in previous seasons, especially

midfielder was often glaringly obvious and caused us to fall short of our targets.
With some surprisingly strong form this season, Francis
Coquelin will surely continue
as one of the two main defensive
midfielders for Arsenal next season.

midfielder who can also carry the burden
as our deeper playmaker similar to what Arteta did, playing Ramsey alongside a destructive

Coquelin just doesn't work.

We have the new signing Granit Xhaka to consider

as Francis
Coquelin but I expect they will be fighting for the deepest lying
midfield position and the same could be true of Mohamed Elneny, so will his Euro performances see Ramsey
as a first choice starter for Arsenal next season?
We finally have a solid striker (even if he will take some adaptation time I think he'll be true class) in Lacazette, we have solid center backs (once they are all healthy) much better than in recent seasons, Giroud is our killer weapon off the bench rather than the key we are relying on
as the main source of goals,
Coquelin and Elneny are now
midfield fall - back options rather than Flamini (no offense Mathieu, I appreciated your efforts, just making the obvious comparison), two high quality keepers, etc..
What I believe Mr Wenger should have done last year was to kept
Coquelin as Arsenal main defensive
midfielder, Wilshere replaces Cazorla and the 34 million in transfer fee and # 120,000 in weekly wages spent on Xhaka should have been spent on a better striker.
Wenger simply must buy another defensive
midfielder, especially
as he seems to have lost faith in
Coquelin lately, and Flamini and Arteta will be gone.
Although it has not been confirmed yet ob the official Arsenal website, it appears that our young French
midfield warrior Francis
Coquelin has now removed any lingering doubts about his commitment to the club by signing a four year contract extension to his current deal which was due to expire at the end of this season,

I will say this... And i'm not pretending to be psychic, but if patience had not been shown with
Coquelin and Ramsey imagine our
midfield now... Hindsight is brilliant but the people who work with these players on a daily basis may actually know what they're doing and when Wenger and Co. actually rate players
as highly
as they do they may see a few things we don't...

as long
as Wilshere, Ramsey, Arteta, Flamini,
Coquelin are our central
midfielders, we are never going to win anything big.

midfield roles, and Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez firmly set in our two attacking
midfield roles,

as having a number of others also capable of starring in those central roles, including Alex Oxlade - Chamberlain, Mohamed Elneny, Francis
Coquelin, Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott.

Coquelin, will allow us more of a presence in the
midfield and allow the team in general to move further up the pitch, seeing
as in the past two games the back line and the
midfield has constantly sat back inviting pressure to build up, whilst the attacking trio of Theo, Ozil and Sanchez would just remain up top.
Often it has been the timing of these problems
as much
as the injuries themselves that causes so much trouble, but the latest injury to our French
midfield star Francis
Coquelin could hardly have come at a better time and should not cause the Gunners any major problem.

coquelin and arteta when he's fit, I think that would provide us with better protection and allow our attackers more freedom

coquelin likes to sit in front of the defence and anticipates danger quite well (really impressed with some of his tackles yesterday).
Then two - tier
midfield will start with
Coquelin, Cazorla and Ramsey
as the defending tier.

midfield battle against the aforementioned Flamini and bit - part player Frances
Coquelin on New Year's Day and may deem his chances of luring the Kenyan international
as superior to his ongoing pursuit of Schneiderlin.

Coquelin — our most steelied player, is not physically
as fast or strong or tall
as other
midfielders and is usually relying on his dogged attitude to get by which against top opposition isn't always enough.
But when cazorla is fit he walks into the
midfield and
coquelin marches in too
as he works best with Santi.
With either chamberlain dropping back into the
midfield in place of
coquelin or flamini seeing
as southamptons
midfield will be missing schneirderlin or perhaps Walcott staying on the bench with a view to coming on in the 2nd half.
I am slightly more surprised to see Aaron Ramsey back again
as our central
midfield duo of
Coquelin and Elneny have been looking good.
I can perfectly understand why Wenger has stuck with Francis
Coquelin as our deep lying
midfielder so far, because the young Frenchman has been fantastic.
