Michelle Jacques is the Chief
Curator at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, where she is responsible for guiding an exhibition, education and acquisitions program that links contemporary practices, ideas and issues to the Gallery's historical collections and legacies.
As Chief
Curator at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) in Toronto, Smith leads the curatorial team at one of the largest art museums in North America.
Prior to coming to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, she served as director of exhibitions at Pratt Institute, New York, and director /
curator at the Art Gallery of York University, Toronto.
Currently, Nanibush is a guest
curator at the Art Gallery of Ontario and is touring her exhibition The Fifth World, which opened January 2016 at the Kitchener - Waterloo Art Gallery.
She got her start at the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, and also worked as
a curator at the art gallery at Houston's Rice University, where she earned her MA in art history and her BA in history and art history.
