Curatorial Practice at the School of Visual Arts is preparing 3 weeks of amazing art in April / May in NYC!
Project Curate provides a
class of advanced art students from Juan Morel Campos High School an opportunity to experience contemporary
curatorial practices by working closely with a professional curator for the whole school year, culminating with an exhibition at NURTUREart Gallery.
Exploring the connections between these and other seemingly disparate themes, the
class aims to locate the Biennial within the context of current artistic and
curatorial practices.

The course consists of lectures, seminars, workshops and
practice in preparation of Gwangju Biennale and Gwangju Design Biennale, with an intensive schedule of

curatorial administrations led by the visiting professor as well as presentations of the participants» projects, and visits to artists, designers, museums, galleries and related institutions.

For the 2017 presentation, SAIC alumna and artist Sadie Woods (MFA 2016) continued her
curatorial practice to organize this exhibition of artists from SAIC's recent graduating
classes, with backgrounds spanning SAIC's Painting and Drawing, Sculpture, Fiber, Art and Technology, Film, Video, New Media, Photography, and Performance departments, among others.
Each year, the
Curatorial Practice program hosts a world -
class selection of visiting curators and artists with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and disciplines.
Joseph del Pesco was part of the first
Curatorial Practice graduating
class, in 2005, and he clearly took to heart the program's mandate to look outward in all ways, from the very definition of art to the delivery of the experience of art.
