I think it can be hard for pre-service teachers to expand their
ideas of what
curriculum is, especially if they're coming from [cultures in which
curriculum means academics specifically]-- to understand that we're not focusing just on academics, or even that that's our
main focus.
When comprehension was implemented in school
curricula, the same infrastructure of tasks used to create test items was used to create instructional and practice materials — finding
main ideas, noting important details, determining sequence of events, cause - effect relations, comparing and contrasting, and drawing conclusions.
