Cutting crown molding isn't as simple as cutting a 45 - degree angle.

If you wanted to do this step with a more traditional
crown molding, you definitely could, but you would need a miter saw to
cut the angles.

crown molding cuts are sooooo tricky!
So this last weekend was a busy one as we purchased,
cut, installed, caulked and primed
crown molding in the living room!
Once the boards were painted, I measured the height from the top of the bottom
molding to the bottom of the
crown molding in the room and then
cut all of the boards to that length.
After painting two coats of Behr close knit on the walls it was time to measure and
cut the wood trim for the base
molding as well as the
crown molding.

Measure wall's height (minus any trim like baseboards or
crown molding) and add a few inches to this measurement if you're working with patterned fabric (to allow for shifting to match up the pattern) then
cut panels.
I did
cut the wood «valance» out above my window and added
crown molding along the top of the cabinets.
