The recipe suggests you use
Daiya dairy - free cheese, which I
did and it is an awesome substitute!
I
did sprinkle on a bit of
daiya just on the top layer — this is optional.
My husband doesn't like
Daiya cheese shreds, so for some of his pizzas, I put our homemade vegan nacho cheese, and on some others, I didn't put cheese at all — just loaded them up with sauce and veggies.
As you know I don't like
Daiya so I bought some of the Follow Your Heart cheese for Reno's birthday party where I made pizza's.
I
did it without the
daiya cheese and honestly it didn't even need it.
But we
do occasionally purchase the
Daiya brand cheese.
I tried to make this soup months ago using
Daiya cheese, but it just didn't work out, so I'm so glad I came across this recipe.
Interested in making this but not sure what cheeses to use... don't really like
Daiya.
On pizza, we use
Daiya shreds, but I've noticed many long - time vegans don't care for
Daiya cheese, so if your palate has moved beyond
Daiya, you can try avocado on pizza which I prefer now to vegan shreds.
Does the pea protein (a fodmap) in the
daiya cheese bother you?

I rarely miss it anymore, but when I
do I break out the
Daiya cheese shreds & the gluten free crust and make up a nice little pizza for myself.

My
Daiya shreds doesn't usually look like that after baking.
And if you have sensitivities to dairy like I
do, you can sub in
Daiya mozzarella shreds to keep it dairy - free!

does too and I always think it's so funny:) I love the cashew sauces over
Daiya!
We're dairy - free and we don't use
Daiya substitutes.
If you don't want to make the cashew cheese, you can ofcourse use
daiya cheese, or any other vegan cheese equivalent.
Daiya isn't a highly nutritious food, but it
does have all - natural ingredients.
As a new vegan, non-dairy cheeses didn't
do much for me but after a few months of having little bits here and there, the flavour of
Daiya really began to grow on me.
Also, cashews don't have the same packaging as
Daiya Cheeze!
Daiya Cheddar Mac and Cheese from This Can't Be Vegan: I'm a big fan of
Daiya vegan cheese - the texture is awesome, and it's great for dips, pasta and anything that requires cooking (just
do not eat it raw, ick).
I
did a bit of checking around, and it looks like some brands of dairy - free cheese you might try include
Daiya, Follow Your Heart, and Teese.
Now I can make or order a vegan pizza with
Daiya and honestly I don't enjoy it any less than I used to when it had real cheese.
(I'm not big on cheese in general, as you know, so I never
did get around to giving
Daiya a try before this.)
