award availability, though unfortunately not always in the lowest redemption category.

Delta, to make up for years of forcing the world to use their dysfunctional
online award calendar, is launching a fantastic promo.
Remember the good old days when
Delta had an
award chart
online and made it clear to SkyMiles members what it would cost to redeem miles to different destinations.
This AiRline (to answer The Nomad's point) has just started partnering with
Delta, and I don't know of any way to search their
award inventory
online.
In addition, it appears that the carrier has taken a page out of
Delta's playbook and no longer makes its
award charts available
online.
Although some of this mileage and pricing is a bit confusing for the moment, and the partnership has not come fully
online in terms of booking
awards, I'm looking forward to sussing out the new possibilities of using both Virgin Atlantic and
Delta miles for flights on one or the other, and to being able to save big on
award taxes and fees by using one set of miles over the other depending on my itinerary.
I like booking Virgin Australia

online, rather than with
Delta agents, because
Delta's telephone agents have been known to book the wrong inventory class on these
awards since they're not always very familiar with them, with folks thinking they're getting business class but actually having phone agents put them in coach.
I'd book right there unless you need to book a mixed cabin
award or you are getting an error
online, in which case I'd call
Delta at 800-323-2323 to book.
