For people who love to strategise it's likely going to be infuriating because one turn you might be bristling with
weapons that can devastate a horde of
demons and the next you might be really needing some defensive options and have none in your
hand because of a bad draw, but to me it's a fun mechanic that stops you from ever developing the «best» way to deal with things and instead makes you use what you have at
hand.
There's just something thoroughly satisfying about being so close to the action, seeing the
weapon in your
hand and all that jazz; more to the point, however, a shooter (of any variety) provides a certain steam - letting conduit, particularly if said shooter is centered around destroying as many robots / aliens /
demons as you can, as fast as you can, whilst making as much of a mess as you can.
As in prior games, this new take on Doom thrusts you into an eerie space station on Mars, as you'll rip apart a bunch of
demons with some really cool
weapons — as well as your bare
hands.
The Slayer is also equipped with a brand new tool, the
Demon Hand, which can latch onto Oni like a grappling hook, allowing gaps to close in lightning fast ways and help set up some epic combo and
weapon skill attacks.
