Recently SPQ has developed a cross-disciplinary partnership with the Queens College
Department of Urban Studies to merge an education in urban research and service learning with strategies in
new genre public and community arts.
Interestingly, Fraser, despite numerous exhibitions in her homeland and her appointment as a Professor in
New Genres at UCLA's
Department of Art, has commonly found a more accepting art audience in Europe.
Invited by Chris Burden, McCarthy taught at UCLA's graduate school
of art as chair
of the
New Genres department, from 1982 to 1999.
