The commissioning of academies is currently undertaken by two separate bodies: the Education Funding Agency (EFA), which is an executive agency of the DfE responsible for funding schools, and the Schools Commissioner Group (SCG), which is part of the DfE responsible for matching schools to academy sponsors.
