Dia: Chelsea As part of the
Dia's «Artists on Artists» lecture series, Mr. Gaines (who closed a terrific
show at Paula Cooper Gallery in April) will expound upon another artist getting a lot of attention lately: Robert Ryman.
With new museums opening and artists such as
Dia Al - Azzawi having major retrospective
shows (Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, Doha, October 2016), Middle Eastern artists are becoming internationally known.
During her lifetime, Martin's work was showcased in retrospective
shows organized by by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the
Dia: Beacon, New York.
Leonard read an arrangement of words from the Niagara Falls postcards featured in her
show You See I Am Here After All, currently on view at the
Dia: Beacon (through Jan. 9, 2011).

Succinct, beautifully installed and bathed in natural light, this
show is a great way for the
Dia Art Foundation to re-enter the curatorial life of the New York City art world, which under its new director, Jessica Morgan, it seems intent on doing.

shows include Bridget Riley: Flashback, which first went on view at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool in 2009; Bridget Riley: Rétrospective at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 2008; Bridget Riley: Paintings and Drawings 1961 - 2004 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney in 2004 - 2005; Bridget Riley: New Work at the Museum Haus Esters and Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, Krefeld, Germany in 2002; and Bridget Riley: Reconnaissance at the
Dia Center for the Arts, New York in 2000 - 2001.
But soon after Ms. Morgan's arrival,
Dia shelved these plans, rightly deciding to make do with the spaces it already owns and get on with the
shows.
Martin, who is deputy director and chief curator at the
Dia Art Foundation, will consider the work of contemporary artists across the Louisiana and choose first, second, and third place awardees, in addition to a Best in
Show winner who will receive The Helis Foundation Art Prize.
