After a couple of poor performances, van
Dijk seems to have found his feet at Liverpool over the last few games.
But there is also a theory that Wenger will look to the future and sign a promising young defender and of these, I think Celtic's Virgil van
Dijk seems the most likely.

Dijk being spotted leaving training and heading for a new club, as noted in the report.
We need another top quality centre back like Van
Dijk / Manolas / Tah / De Vrij because Mertesacker won't be a regular and is retiring at the end of the season, Koscielny is ageing and has injury problems, Chambers
seems like he may leave, Gabriel is injured rn and is inconsistent, Holding is class but still quite inexperienced and Mustafi picks up loads of yellow cards.
And if we really are considering letting Mustafi go (which STILL
seems crazy to me) that might point to a center back the club thinks is much better, perhaps Van
Dijk who we've been rumored about for years?
The situation
seems to have calmed in the time that has passed with van
Dijk left out of Southampton's pre-season trip to France last week, as he continues to make it clear that he wants to join Liverpool.
Keown believes that, while Van
Dijk's arrival has played a part, credit must also go to Lovren for improving and for always

Maybe Van
Dijk and Keïta will fix all of Liverpool's defensive problems, but such a convenient answer
seems too good to be true.
Whatever your stance, one thing that
seems unforgivable is not bringing in at least one new centre - back, with a move for Virgil van
Dijk fizzling out in rather pathetic fashion.
