do an
ebook only.
In the 21st century,
authors need to be
doing more than looking into Internet marketing,
ebooks, blogs and blog book tours.

For the most part, sites that display free
ebooks do so to assist
authors who are offering free books through Amazon, we allow you to post ANY bookseller your book is free or discount priced at.
Other major publishers may be content to reap record profits off the growth of
ebook sales while paying
authors practically nothing for digital books with far lower production and distribution costs, but we wouldn't feel right
doing that.

What, other than conversion, is the publisher
doing for the
author regarding the
ebook that justifies them taking such a huge chunk of the royalties?
Creating an
eBook can be
done for minimal moneys and if the
author has marketing moxie, can generate revenues quickly... then go (or not) to a print format.
It doesn't include the numbers from self published
authors, who use
EBooks almost exclusively.

For
do - it - yourself
authors, Lulu provides free tools for print and
eBook creation, free ISBNs for identification, and free distribution to a global network of online bookstores.
Rights are granted from the moment an
author submits the Publishing Agreement but Dymocks can keep exclusive worldwide rights if they
do as little as make an
ebook available in any language in one
ebook store anywhere in the world.
Then once you release your
eBook, write Amazon KDP and ask them to link the books, it's super simple and they
do it all the time for our
authors.
But it puts the pressure on
authors to price their
eBooks lower, to offer some or all of them for free, and to
do it with a smile on their face, even as they are (metaphorically) cutting off pieces of themselves to gain a foothold in the fickle book market.
That's not to say it was ever easy, but the
authors who were early to the
eBook market in particular enjoyed an advantage that
authors just now entering the market
do not enjoy.
I don't think the first - time
author should necessarily be looking to go straight to
ebook today.
We don't think any
author should pay for straight
eBook distribution.

My goal with this site is to help indie
authors learn how to format their own books for print and
ebook, with no previous design experience or technical ability... and still have them look like they were
done by a professional.

It doesn't sell books directly, but offers books from

If someone
did make an
ebook out of all of this, I don't think anyone would call the person who compiled the information a «writer» or an «
author» because those words already have established meanings which are very well known to people who craft the English language for pleasure or profit.
It
does some powerful stuff, like allowing you to add cover art to an
eBook you have downloaded that may not have one, or to change the
author's name.
That doesn't entirely explain how the
ebook is distributed and sold to Kindle customers, but the site states that Amazon is one of the vendors
authors can select.
