You don't have to «give up» the dock mode as some others have put it.

Nintendo gave devs the option to hold the dock's graphic power while in mobile mode to make it easier for devs or if some problems occur with the switching... BUT THIS EATS THE BATTERY sooo quickly... I guess 3rd party Switch games will eat much more battery and be more buggy during the first year.
