debarking have commented they didn't realize their were children behind them.

Update June 24, 2008: The House Judiciary Committee has voted to pass H.B. 2532, a bill that would ban
debarking, tail docking and surgical birthing
done without a veterinarian using anesthesia.
Animal rights interests have painted
debarking as a cruel quick fix when in fact it is something no owner
does lightly.
What
debarking does is to lower the volume of the bark so that it
does not carry for miles around.
A third bill, H.B. 2532, would prohibit
debarking, tail docking or surgical birthing unless
done by a veterinarian under anesthesia.
And OF COURSE
debarking is a last resort â $ «why would anyone
do it if they didn't have to?
The ASPCA opposes declawing,
debarking, defanging, ear cropping and tail docking - any elective surgery
done to conform to breed standard or eliminate undesirable behavior - except in extreme circumstances.
