After posting my opinion piece where I defended Call of
Duty: Modern Warfare 3, I quickly received much criticism for essentially doing what I
set out to try and oust: Battlefield 3 fanboyism, or at least trying to silence the people who bashed the
game for being terrible and a milking of the franchise while singing praise of its rival.
But as the series grew the developers somehow felt that if Killstreaks were so good then having more of them was obviously the correct way to make a superior
game, the very same attitude they had toward massive
set - pieces, and so modern Call of
Duty multiplayer matches often feel like nothing more than an endless barrage of Killstreaks, each seemingly more powerful than the last.
Eventually a little
game by the name of Call of
Duty 4: Modern Warfare came along and changed everything, popularising the cinematic,

Because each new entry in the Call of
Duty franchise pushed the previous year's
game out, the publisher forged beyond the modern era with futuristic

Duty community, and bigger multiplayer modes (starting with the Left 4 Dead - like Zombies Mode featured in Call of
Duty: World At War) that ultimately overshadowed anything players would find in the single - player campaign.
So here are some of my complaints with the
game: its campaign is an atrocious, dull corridor shooter with cheap thrills that constantly resorts to trying to be like Call of
Duty (and I dare say, ripping off), with repetitive missions even by the standards that people
set for its rival.
In a horribly funny twist of fate it's the very company that created the first Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward, that are the most guilty of this, whiling away the hours trying to replicate that same success but with more explosions, more
set - pieces and even less player control, never grasping the simple concept that they need to move on, not to create another Call of
Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but to simply create another great
game.
I'm sure we'll see some stuff about Call of
Duty: Advanced Warfare, FIFA, and probably Forza Horizon 2 —
games that really appeal to the European audience — with the former two
set to receive some more exclusive content, I'd wager.
