Unlike the Jag and AMG, which are both fast with their stability control set to track mode, the Bimmer's M Dynamic mode costs multiple seconds a lap.

Understeer concerns disappear with the M xDrive system in the all - wheel - drive Sport setting to transfer more torque to the rear wheels and M Dynamic Mode enabling more slip angle before stability control steps in.

The fun is in Power mode, which turns off the electronic stability control and sets steering and braking to their most dynamic.

A further factor in the new M5's dynamic ability is just how willing the driver is to alter the stability - control setting, which offers three settings: default, MDM (M Driver Mode) and completely switched — the latter of which requires the button to be depressed for three seconds.
