As has been said, the Kobo E-readers offer a lot more flexibility in
file formats and have less vendor lock in (i.e. offer some DRM free
epub and you can side load all the
epub / pdf
files you
want and the device just works).
On the other hand, it does require more time and effort (Google uses
ePub, but also
wants PDF
files, and it's another process to go through to create an account and upload and track sales, etc.), and I don't know if they'll grow overall e-book sales (which would be great), or just fracture the market further.
