There's no way that we would've recommended using the Cupertino brand's previous earbuds, but
the EarPods do the trick if you don't want to splash out on a new pair, having just spent all your wedge on a shiny new iPhone 5.
Aside from the Lightning connection, the EarPods don't seem to differ too much from the ones Apple currently makes, down to the ability to control playback and volume using an in - line button.

Sure, Apple offers a $ 9 adapter that lets you use 3.5 mm headphones with the new iPhone, but it doesn't sell a dongle that makes the new
EarPods compatible with existing technology.
For those who don't have wireless headphones, who don't want to purchase Apple's new $ 159 wireless AirPods, and who aren't thrilled about the idea of using an adaptor to connect their existing headsets to the iPhone 7's Lightning Port, the company includes a wired set of
EarPods with a Lightning connector, along with the phone.
We also don't get any insight on what «AirPods» are, though the name suggests they're wireless
EarPods.
It's not 100 % certain that Apple will supply Lightning
Earpods with the iPhone 7, but this
does seem the most likely bet.
Had Apple
done something, anything, to help improve sound quality for the masses — which upgraded Lightning
EarPods would have been a step toward — then the loss of the headphone jack would have at least been partially justifiable.
If you know that the corded
EarPods that came with your iPhone don't fit you, the AirPods won't either.
The same section didn't sound nearly as dynamic on
EarPods.
We've already seen images of
EarPods with Lightning connectors, and the latest pictures are almost identical — although they
do provide a clearer and closer view.
If Apple
does come out with Lightning
EarPods, I hope we get some black ones to match the new alleged iPhone color.

done away with the 3.5 mm jack, but has included an adapter to connect your old headphones to it via the lightning port, which will directly accept the bundled lightning
EarPods.
Don't worry, though; it seems the
Earpods you get with your new iPhone will have a Lightning connection at the end.
I know that this will be different for each person — some folks just don't think the
EarPods are comfortable — but for me, these things feel light as a feather, but they fit nice and snug, too.
In my opinion, the Lighting
EarPods has a slightly improvement compared with the 3.5 mm version, but the sound quality doesn't have much of improvement.
The washing machine test was
done by placing the earbuds in - case into a 30 - minute wash cycle, with detergent alongside some clothing (and a pair of Apple Lightning
EarPods for comparison).
That's not necessarily a bad thing, since for a lot of people,
EarPods have been
doing the job for several years.
