On the negative side of things the fee increases are brutal, the drop in mileage earnings for semi-flexible
Economy Class fares seems a little harsh and the cheapest Premium
Economy Class fares will now
earn 10 % fewer miles than before.

fare code «U» will now
earn miles equivalent to 75 % of the distance flown (compared to 100 %) and some of the cheaper
Economy Class fares (
fare codes T, E, N, G & R) will
earn 5 % fewer miles from 1 November.
The net effect here is that deeply discounted

earn more miles while some more flexible

earn fewer miles.
Among the changes: The number of Avios
earned (that's Executive Club's «currency») will basically be increased for passengers in business and first
class — especially in the higher
fare classes — and decreased for those flying on the lowest
economy fares.
If you
earn AAdvantage status using Elite Qualifying Points (EQP), you're actually marginally better off under the new chart because two of the
economy fare classes (S & N) will now
earn 1.0 EPQ per mile rather than 0.5 EQP.

earning elite qualifying miles on American's partners has never been harder — the cheapest
fares on most of American's partners

The proposed new system would work by basing the number of miles
