While we all enjoy booking an extravagant first class award to Asia and getting a massive amount of value out of our miles, the truth is award tickets simply aren't available every time we want to book and some travel needs like domestic economy tickets don't offer such great value.

Economy tickets do still earn you actual miles flown.

Economy tickets do not qualify for this offer.

Economy ticket does not grant you access to the Galleries Lounge at London Heathrow.

Economy product just yet.
Passengers flying on discounted
economy class
tickets would be shifted across to a revamped version of Asia Miles where members can earn miles that are redeemed for future travel but
do not earn any sort of tier status with an airline.
The very cheapest
economy seats (booked in classes S, N Q & O)
do not earn miles or count towards the sectors needed to move up the club's tiers, but there are still seven
economy class
ticket rates that
do.
Let's
do the same calculations we
did for the
Economy ticket.
Tip # 2: If you don't have enough miles for that (or you would prefer to take more flights with the miles you have), consider using your United miles on international
economy class flights on routes that have expensive cash
tickets.
Promotions such as these are great ways to boost your miles & points balances and, even though travel in
Economy Class doesn't earn anywhere near the amount of miles that a Business or First Class
ticket does, these are still free miles (as long as you were taking the flight anyway).

I've often said that, generally, I can't bring myself to cough up the extra miles needed for a First Class award
ticket when Business Class on most airlines is more than good enough for me (that's not me being low - maintenance, that's just how good the Business Class hard product often is) but I'll happily
do whatever it takes not to sit in
Economy.
American Airlines is introducing Premium
Economy cabins to its international fleet from late 2016 and, although we don't know for sure, it's more than likely that systemwide upgrades will only upgrade to the next cabin of service — i.e you'll have to pay for Premium
Economy tickets if you want to upgrade to Business Class.
Note: If you were planning on taking a roundtrip
economy ticket, I'd check with what routes are served by Alaska and Virgin America first to make sure you could use this on your travels since their networks don't cover the US equally.
Just because there are business class seats for sale
does not mean that you can upgrade your
economy class
ticket.
Of course, as I discussed in my first article on travel hacking theory, I
do value that award trip at more than $ 790, in fact, I value it at about $ 1,300, since that's what I'd typically pay for an
economy class
ticket to Europe.

tickets work now that airlines offer a category of fares cheaper than regular
economy?

And if you don't want to splurge on a Business Class
ticket, you can still travel in comfort on these new A350: Delta is also installing their new Premium
Economy product.
If you really apply yourself to the accumulation of frequent flyer miles (and there are lots of ways to
do it that are actually quite easy), you might find yourself on a long - haul business class flight, enjoying luxury in the sky — all for less than the price of an
economy ticket.
If you are a Gold or Platinum member, we will guarantee you an
Economy Class seat on your chosen flight, * even if you don't already have a
ticket.
Rewards: Similar to other Asian carriers, Thai Airways limits the number of miles you earn in their Royal Orchid Rewards Program on discounted
economy tickets to 25 % and you don't earn any miles on the cheapest
tickets, eliminating one of the differentiators to low - cost carriers.
If you don't have status that waives the close - in
ticketing fee that can also be a great use of points, even for domestic
economy.
