This one reminds at times of a couple of Mel Gibson revenge flicks: Payback and Edge of Darkness, though what really helps here is the strength of the cast and unusual scars of Victor and Beatrice.

I doubt «Edge of Darkness» will herald Mel Gibson's return to stardom.

Expectedly, this will prompt concerns that Edge of Darkness is little more than Payback 2 or Lethal Weapon 27.

Despite its convoluted political scheme, and its kinetically visceral action, Edge of Darkness feels very much like a real story with genuine characters.
